Orphan Donates To Brilliant But Needy Student

An Orphan who benefited from a scholarship and now pursuing her Education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Miss. Hagar Amponsah has lend a helping hand to brilliant but needy student at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region of the Republic of Ghana.

According to her, she has been through the mill after her parents died in the same month at the age of 11. Miss. Hagar after the kind gesture shown her by Mastercard Foundation has decided to reciprocate by lending a helping hand to some brilliant but needy students.On this note, Miss. Hagar has offered to take up the full expenses of Priscilla Boateng, a form one student of ST. Martin’s R/C JHS at Kumawu till she completes her education. Amongst other assistance offered her were textbooks, pens and other learning materials to boost her level of education and a monthly remuneration of GH 100.

She further donated a box of chalk, pens, waste-bins and other teaching and learning materials to the School to encourage the teachers and to spearhead teaching and learning.Receiving the items on behalf of the school, Headmistress, Mrs Cynthia Owusu thanked her and appealed to her for more.

Asked on what motivated her to take up this bold approach, Miss. Hagar said although she don’t have enough, but knows exactly how it feels when your parents don’t have much or are not there to cater for you “I have seen it, felt it, I’ve been in their shoes before and even still in their shoes….its very hard to lose your parents at a tender age”. Your education, life, even everything turns upside down.

Miss. Hagar Amponsah reiterated her commitment to ensuring the less and privileged in the society are attended to and also setting up a foundation to embark on such tasks.
