The Deputy Commander in charge of the Anti-Galamsey Taskforce, Operation Vanguard (OV) Chief Superintendent Abraham Acquaye has stated emphatically that government shouldn’t be blamed if they fail to combat illegal mining activities.

He said they should rather be held responsible if they fail to deliver and not the government.

Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resource on August 2, 2017 deployed joint Taskforce made up of four hundred (400) highly motivated officers and men drawn from the Ghana Army, Navy, Air Force and the Ghana Police Service to fight illegal mining activities in the Eastern, Ashanti and the Western Region.

Chief Superintendent Abraham Acquaye speaking to Abusua Dawuro’s Nana Ama Annor said the Operation Vanguard (OV) has all the logistics, equipment and men to fight against illegal miners in the country.

He said they cannot fail with all the logistics available to them to curb the menace.

According to him, Ghanaians should support Operation Vanguard in the fight against illegal mining activities.

“We are not going to stop fighting against illegal mining activities. We will fight till we win. We have all the men and logistics as needed, but don’t blame the government if we fail,” he said.
